What is Heart Ellipsis?
Heart Ellipsis is the place of contentment where love defines enough.
As a straight A, active, successful student, I didn’t find much time for learning contentment. Rather I pushed myself to be a star, bright enough to conceal the scars on my burning heart.
Navigating that impossible feat, I began prayer journaling to contain the thoughts that confused my brain. From high school on, heart ellipsis became the signature for my journaled prayers to God. A declaration that God’s love is enough for me.
Why combine a heart and an ellipsis?
It’s pretty easy and rather obvious to identify the heart as a symbol of love. However, the ellipsis is not often paired with it. See, in literature, the ellipsis is placed when enough context is given for words to be omitted while the message remains understood. What I find most interesting is that it is made of three dots.
If you’re reading this, you know that one dot is a period indicating that a sentence is over. Three dots, however, and there is so much more that has been said, but not revealed to bring the message to life.
But what’s the significance?
Oftentimes in prayer, I lament or supplicate in the midst of one dot moments without finding immediate resolution. But every time I write heart ellipsis, I remember that there were many other moments appearing as one dot. Yet, those full stop stories, now make an ellipsis. Not a collection of forgotten word clusters, but a series of testimonies of impossible ends becoming unbeatable beginnings.
These personal reminders are shareable stories that communicate that the God I knew before this moment was faithful. And each one strengths my hope that He will remain faithful today, every tomorrow I live to see, and the ones beyond this earth, is enough for me to lean solely on His love.
Not the mushy and gushy, instagramable love, but love rooted in belief and commitment to God demonstrated through obedience and discipline.
This is a space for the healing perfectionists stepping into womanhood with Christ. For the kinda grown girls that want to find love, travel, and nurture their dreams to life. Hey sis, welcome ♡…
With Love,
Rebecca
Therefore, do not throw away your confidence, which has a great reward. For you have need of endurance, so that when you have done the will of God you may receive what is promised.
